Using the seasons to plan a hen party can be a massive help when it comes to choosing the right hen party activities and hen do ideas. Weddings have become year round events, no longer the preserve of the sunnier months. With that come hens for all seasons and plenty of alternative ideas when it comes to themes for your bride’s last fling. We love it. Any way to bring something new and make a hen party different is just how we like it!

A Halloween hen will really let people tap into their creative side. From vampire brides to ghost tours the options are endless. Your group could go on a fancy dress trick or treating pub trail. Speak to bars in the planning stages about what they could arrange for your visit.
Use the change in weather to allow you to go cosy with the hen. A pj slumber party is the perfect antidote to the shorter days and chillier nights.
A Jazzy affair! The Cork Jazz Festival is a hen party dream as without any effort on your part you bring the bride to a city wide party. Easy to build a dress code and theme around it’s sure to be a roaring success.

Christmas weddings are becoming very popular. A hen trip to Santa would make for fantastic photo opportunity. Find a friend or actor at your destination willing to don the red suit and hit the shops for a sack full of fun presents. Get the gang to write Santa letters with their wishes for the happy couple. A customised Christmas decoration makes the perfect party favour.
Christmas Markets are great if your budget allows a trip to one of the many Christmas markets in Europe would be hen party heaven. Fueled by mulled wine and all things cinnamon you’re sure to have a very merry time.
Hit the slopes! This is a splurge but if the bride and her girls like some reds and frolics in apres ski, the group might not mind splashing the cash. If a trip to the Alps is too budget busting (it definitely will be for most!) but a group lesson on the Ski Club slopes in Kilternan could be right up an active bride’s street. Follow it with some reviving hot port for an après ski party.
St. Patricks Day means there are tonnes of events and ready made fun to join in with in almost every Irish town. Beware though that this can also mean a hike in prices for accommodation.
Easter comes with lots of cuteness and our weakness, the amazing substance that is chocolate. Look out for all things hen themed in the run up to Easter. You will find lots of chocolate hens, décor and gift items for your hen party around this time. There is a great chocolate making workshop in Kenmare for those thinking of heading that way for the hen celebrations.
3 day party! Sounds perfect to us! Avail of the Spring bank holidays to stretch the celebrations and allow for recovery Mondays. Be sure to send an early save the date for these though as people’s bank holidays are often booked early.
Festival fever. Henfest is one of our favouite themes at The Hen Planner HQ. The options are endless in Summer but we are big fans of tapping into the festival scene which has exploded in recent years. There are events to suit all tastes from Puck Fair to Electric Picnic and beyond.
Glamping is another fantastic option with sites popping up in every corner of the country. Bring your guitars and make some smores for a night by the campfire. Make use of the bbq for pre party soakage before a second night out of the tiles.
Whatever the month look to what’s on and utilise it to create a unique theme. By tapping into an event in your destination you can join in the ready made fun sometimes at no extra cost to your gang. There truly is a hen for all seasons.
Happy hen planning ladies!
