9 Recommended Barcelona Hen Party Ideas - The Hen Planner

9 Recommended Barcelona Hen Party Ideas

Lots of you gals have enquired about destination hen parties. We asked those who have been there for some suggestions and we have received lots of AMAZING feedback from our real-life hens about their fave places for hen parties. They’ve shared their highlights and recommendations from hen parties abroad, and we feel it’s only fair to share their tips with you all. With that, we bring you 6 recommended Barcelona hen party ideas. Barcelona is a winner for lots of our bride tribes for a destination hen. Why? Firstly there are plenty of regular flights from Ireland and the UK (Aer Lingus, Ryanair and Easyjet) along with cheap transfer options from nearby airports (Girona, Reus). This means flexible flight prices and no hassle if some of the crew need to arrive or leave at different times. Another major Barca bonus is that you get all the highlights of a city break with the fun of a beach holiday, so a great choice if you’re not sure which your bride would prefer! Check out the 9 recommended Barcelona hen party ideas below.

1. Hit the W hotel for drinks

This was recommended as a MUST for a classy hen party by a few different people. The W hotel is a super glam hotel on the waterfront with glass panels and amazing views. Get the elevator to the rooftop Eclipse bar to start your night on the town with a fabulous cocktail. Watermelon martini anyone? More on this hotel here

2. Segway tour or bike ride

Why walk when you can segway?

Save your feet for dancing and get a guided segway tour of Barcelona’s famous sights. Take a break from the bubbles and ensure your hen squad tick off some cultural boxes on their hen weekend in Barcelona.

This is a personal photo taken from the Barcelona Hen Party I planned for my Maid of Honour.  We did a segway tour on the last day and it was an incredible way to see all of the beautiful sights.  A few girls have said that the segway tour was the highlight of their Barcelona hen weekend!

3. Hip Bike Tour

If you want a more active trip around the city, take a hip bike tour! This is another fun way to take in the city with this highly recommended company , either on a city bike or an e-bike depending on how the legs are feeling! More details here

4. Beach bar babes

Well, it is a hen weekend! Our bride squads loved the bars on the beachfront. These are the perfect spots to chill out with some drinks in the afternoon or start off the hen party in the evening. You can choose from a beach club with a pool like Café del Mar or One Ocean Club  or hit the smaller “Chiringuitos”, the local low key beach bars that are popular in the summer.

5. Flamenco dancing

Want something cultural? Break out your frilliest skirt and learn some authentic Spanish moves in a flamenco class. Our brides loved perfecting their taps and claps and you can even watch the professionals in action afterwards as part of some packages. Also doubles as a great excuse to deck the bride out in a gorgeous veil.

6. Instaglam picnic

A hot tip from our henplanner fans that we absolutely love the sound of is the Straws n Berries picnic. You can arrange for a super stylish picnic or outdoor brunch, complete with photographer, mimosas and lots of the delish local cheeses, breads and veggie nibbles at a location of your choice. Top picks are for picnics are beachside or at one of the gorgeous parks or gardens in the city. If you have an air bnb or accommodation with an outdoor terrace, you can arrange for them to set up a stylish brunch for the gals while you catch some rays.

7. Salsa class and Tapas

More dancing! but this time with food! Many of our hens who have been to Barcelona got in touch to recommend this activity! This is a combination of a sexy salsa class followed by some delish local tapas and plenty of refreshments in the nearby pubs. Check out this option here

8. Boat Party!

A favourite activity from our destination hens is a day spent channelling your inner celeb and enjoying a few glasses of bubbly on a yachtYou can arrange your own private charter and enjoy some sunbathing while you and the bride tribe sip cocktails, or arrange for a sunset cruise before hitting the clubs back on the shore. Pro tip – Be sure to pack lots of SPF to prevent any dodgy burns or terrible tan lines before the big day. There are also lots of big group boat parties every weekend in Barcelona with DJs if a floating nightclub is more your scene.

9. Cocktail making in a quirky bar! Collage Art Barcelona

We can recommend this activity because we have experienced it first hand and it was an absolutely amazing time.  Perfect for a range of ages and a large or small hen party!

The owners of Collage Art bar are extremely knowledgable and have the perfect balance on keeping the activity light-hearted and fun.  The entire hen party agreed this was the best fun we had all weekend.  The best thing about this activity, is that you get your moneys worth in cocktails, and the entire place is privately booked out for your hen party!

Summary

With lots of sights and scenery, a fabulous beachfront and a great nightlife, you won’t be stuck for options on a Barcelona hen weekend. There are tons of chilled afternoon options like a stroll through Mercado le Boqueria foodmarket, the botanic gardens in Montjuic, a trip to any of the many art museums or just relaxing with some pinxtos and drinks in the sun.
