Introducing our new blogger, Jen!
Just a few lines about myself, my name’s Jen and I’m living in Dublin. I’m currently planning my own wedding later this year and loving every bit of it! I could certainly do this all day every day. So to say I am delighted to be involved with thehenplanner.com is an understatement. I’m looking forward to sharing some posts from the bride-to-he’s perspective. Lots of love, Jen xx
With the countdown well under way for my own wedding (eeek!) one of the things I am really enjoying is having my lovely involved in the preparations and all the girly days out we’ve been having. Just today we visited the florist to go through ideas and treated ourselves to a lovely lunch nearby. Having been on lots of hen weekends where the mums have been there and had their own role in the weekend, I would like my mum to be involved in my hen party. While she is happy to decorate jars, and come to dress fittings, this is the one thing that she has said she would rather stay home for. So if your mum’s are like mine and looking to shy away from the hen shenanigans, why not have a separate day out with the maids and the mums. Also perfect, if like me, you have a younger bridesmaid. Here are some of our favourites.

Girls Day Out
Take a trip into Dublin City and start the day off having your nails done. A favourite of ours has to be Nails Inc. in Brown Thomas, perfectly situated for some shopping on Grafton Street afterwards. With restaurants a plenty you will not be short in choice for somewhere to go for a bite to eat. Immerse yourself in a Dublin institution – Afternoon Tea at the Westbury Hotel. The perfect way to finish your day off is to enjoy a cocktail or two overlooking St Stephens Green from the iconic Shelbourne Hotel.
Overnight Break
Definitely a favourite of ours, is to enjoy an overnight break in the breathtakingly beautiful Powerscourt Hotel in Enniskerry Co. Wicklow. Spend the afternoon unwinding in the spa and relaxing around the Swarovski Crystal-lit heated pool. In the evening make the most of your hotel suite, enjoy a glass of bubbly in your fluffy robes and have a catch up with your mum and maids.
For something different try La Peniche – Dublin’s Floating Restaurant. Why not enjoy a relaxing evening or lunchtime canal barge cruise on the Grand Canal Dublin. If the sun is shining you can dine up on the top deck. The boat can also be hired exclusively for larger parties. They will allow you to bring your own decorations and arrange a dance floor if required (of course it will be required!) This would certainly be a unique and memorable experience.
Bride-to-Be Brunch
For something low key grab the maids, the mum’s and have a lovely brunch in the comfort of your own house. Get the mimosa’s flowing and enjoy some tame hen games like The Wedding Dress Game, suitable for all ages and lots of fun!
Enjoy ladies
