9 Below is an underground speakeasy style venue, with sophisticated Mad Men vibes. We recommend this for a quiet cocktail earlier in evening.
The Grayson is a buzzier spot in a beautiful restored Georgian townhouse that overlooks the Green. It’s open from brunch at the weekends and has a DJ til late. If you like your vino, this place has a very extensive wine list!
Nearby, House on Leeson St is a hen favourite It has a very pretty, photogenic garden room for private hire. This would make a great location for hen activities and looks stunning on a sunny day. Some of their own hen friendly offerings are prosecco afternoon teas or gin tasting.
Take the hen fun to a fancy level at The Westbury which has a few offerings for a glam hen squad. Their more casual Balfe’s is an influencer favourite, especially good for a boozy brunch on the outdoor terrace with a Parisian feel. The Wilde restaurant upstairs is pricier, but has 1930’s theme and lots of greenery. Alternatively, head to the Sidecar which is an uber elegant Gatsby style bar where you can enjoy a glass of champagne or a cocktail in style.
3. Camden Street and Harcourt Street
These streets are known for a fun night out. The Hen Planner team recommends:
Opium and their cool Japanese themed botanical garden upstairs. Not only is this space camera friendly, but there’s an Asian restaurant and cocktail bar on site too.
The Jar has a simple, clean interior and a tiled garden terrace that’s extra fab in the summer. The terrace area can be used for everything from paint and prosecco to pink gin and pilates events. Plus for hungry hens, they do delish Base wood fired pizza in house!
Delahunt is for the the wannabe princess bride (or duchess!) Harry and Meghan popped in to the restaurant for dinner on their recent trip, but we recommend heading upstairs to the “Sitting room” which is a cocktail bar with original fireplaces and retro furnishings with room for about 40 people.
Sophie’s is the venue with the famous swing that’s plastered all over your insta-feed. This rooftop bar and restaurant in the Dean hotel is a super sleek spot for hen beverages with views of the city. You can also book a coveted table for drinks in the outdoor area if you have a group of more than 8. Think soho house vibes.
4. Temple Bar
We couldn’t write a Dublin hen party piece and not include the iconic Temple Bar! If you want the typical hen experience, a pub crawl along here will guarantee you a night to remember, packed with cheesy music and rowdy hen and stag squads. If this isn’t for you, there are a few hidden gems in this area that we recommend.
The Vintage Cocktail Club or the VCC is exactly what it sounds like, a candle-lit cocktail bar, with lots of velvet and vintage furniture. The perfect location for some glam retro photographs for the hen book, complete with martini or champagne saucer. They also run cocktail making sessions here.
Roberta’s is a bar and restaurant in Essex Street with a New York feel. It’s a refurbished industrial building with sleek décor and a big glass atrium with lots light during the daytime for a few selfies or a nice shot of the night sky. Plus they have an outdoor terrace that’s great for summer evenings.
