The primary objective for a hen party is to give the bride-to-be the best possible “send off” before the nuptials take place. So what better place for such an event than one of the glamping sites springing up in some lovely parts of the UK and Ireland? After all, if you are going to have a party why not make it an overnighter or even the whole weekend? A spot of glamorous camping might just fit the bill. Here are some of our favourite glampsites to give you ideas for your hen party.
Glamping sites came about because of the need, felt by many people, to enjoy the “idea” of camping but without the bad bits. Surely it is only the most hardened of campers who enjoy sleeping on the floor in a nylon sleeping bag having struggled in (possibly) the wind and rain to piece together a jigsaw of metal rods and canvas before hand. Well, the good news is that none of this is necessary. If you fancy a special location for your hen party why not take a look at a company such as Babes in the Woods? They have two fabulous sites, one in the lea of the glorious Malvern Hills in Worcestershire and the other along the River Dart in Devon, not far from Totnes.
Everything that you might expect from a good hotel is on offer at these sites, including (unbelievably) breakfast in bed! You are encouraged to bring your nicest pyjamas, a cold box for the odd bottle or two of champers and a torch for those night time visits to the luxury toilet blocks. The company will organise your party to your own specifications or just leave you to enjoy the time amongst yourselves. An alternative location can be found in South Wales run by Cosy Under Canvas who have a lovely site just north of the Brecon Beacons.
In Ireland you’ll find equally good luxury and boutique campsites, all offering superb, custom-designed hen party facilities where you can enjoy the company of your friends however you choose.
Teapot Lane is a wonderful and incredibly popular site where you can not only party hard but also treat all your guests to some lovely spa treatments. It is in the Donegal bay area and you might even be interested in the wonderful surfing option nearby.
Mount Druid is also known as Boutique Camping so that should tell you all you need to know about the site! It is located in a fabulous woodland setting in County Westmeath.
Wildflower is based in Co Cavan and the beautiful site is turned into a fairy land with lights, bunting and balloons to celebrate your hen party.
Don’t feel like you have to stay in the campsite for the weekend. Hire and bus and visit some of the local hotspots (*pubs!) Wherever you decide to spend your hen party, remember to take a bottle of champagne. Toasting the bride with a glass of champers whilst in the great outdoors is the ultimate in glamping!
