As New Years Eve is such a popular time for weddings, there is no better time to celebrate the hen party than in late November and early December. This is the perfect opportunity to break away from the traditional hen parties and bring out the fun and colour of the festive season. Read on for some of our favourite alternative Christmas hen do suggestions, from themes to accessories and activities.
When it comes to deciding where to go, there is nothing quite like that festive feel in a city at Christmas. Fairy lights, Christmas trees, Christmas markets, carol singers. Anywhere with a Christmas market is perfect as it provides you with an easy activity straight away and will be full of that fuzzy warm festive feeling. Stroll around the cute stalls with a cup of mulled wine, pick up some stocking fillers and secret santa gifts and giggling with the girls. The find a cosy pub or restaurant with a fire and have a boozy lunch and play some hen party games and take lots of photos. Bath is one of our favourite Christmas Market spots in England. The London Christmas market Hyde Park is also a great choice. Browse our Bath listings right here.
In terms of festive inspired activities, it’s a great time to get crafty. Some DIY Christmas wrapping or fun Christmas head pieces with a craft studio would be perfect. Remember ladies, that a lot of the crafty hen party businesses will be happy to create something bespoke for you and your girls and can help you come up with a crafty activity to suit your hen party. Drink, Shop and Do in London have some pretty wacky ideas which we love them for.
Another option is to head to a pantomime or see Santa (this is always hilarious as Santa is known to be a little naughty…!) and relive the younger years. Ice skating is another fun and healthy choice. Although beware, not everyone will be fans of this!
For your Christmas hen do theme there are so many options! We are known for steering clear of tack however we are guilty of Christmas jumpers and tinsel in our hair at our annual Christmas crawl of the London pubs with friends. This is such a cute and fun hen party theme. It looks soooo good in photos. Buy some photo booth kits to add to the photos and memories of the day. This is such a great day time theme.
For the night time, well Christmas is all about getting your best party dresses out. If you’re hitting the town for a seriously fun hen night, get the sparkle and glitz out. Black and white is always classy or white and gold always gorgeous and has a real winter wonderland feel.
For all the personal touches and hen party accessories, we have a gorgeous collection of cute and simple hen party badges which can be customised, gorgeous handmade luxury sashes and fun photo booth props, festive paper straws and our popular hangover kit bags (very much needed over the festive season!) If you feel like doing some hen party DIY, we recommend some gold tinsel head bands which are really easy to make and maybe adding something extra special for the bride to be.
