Whilst we sing from the stylish sheet often here at The Hen Planner HQ we do love adventure and trying something new. A glass of champagne or a margarita is never better than when really deserved after a morning of frolicking in the great outdoors. Although we might dread the thought beforehand of having to exert any extra effort on ourselves, it provides unbelievable satisfaction and is a great kick start to the hen party fun.
We have scoured around Ireland and rounded up some awesome, active and adventurous hen party activity options for the ladies who want to get their blood pumping. They will work for the gals who really want to take a walk on the wild side as well as for groups of all ages and adventure levels.
Ok wild things, let the adventurous hen party activity commence.
1. Yoga, Surf and Beach Party, Kinsale, Cork
Bring a touch of Hawaii to your hen party with this knarley hen party activity. Ok, so you will be wearing wetsuits and not quite frolicking like you’re on the pacific shores but work with us. You’ll start off with a yoga session to get your zen on. It’s then time to show the waves what you’re made of. Whether you catch a tonne, none or one, you’ll feel refreshed and buzzing when you have dried off. To reward you for embarking on the cold Irish waters, the surf team will throw you the best beach party ever. You’ll more than likely be throwing on hoodies and woolly hats to warm your bones but if Kinsale is blessed with some nice weather, bring out the floaty dresses and flower headbands for a stylish beach party. Either way, we guarantee a day of fun and satisfaction.
2. The Venue for Everyone, The Three Towers, Galway
The Three Towers in Galway is the dream location for the ladies who like the festival, glamping image but not so much the actual camping. The adventure here ranges from biking to riding to walking so you’ll find something to suit all ages and physical abilities. After your day of activities in the gorgeous green surroundings, you’ll rest your tired legs in their cosy eco lodges. Yes ladies, you get your own little cabin! You can also unwind from your active day with a choice of yoga, facials and massages. The team are happy to take your ideas on board and can tailor a hen party experience just for you.
3. Bushcraft Survival, Delphi
Did you go to Delphi when you were at school? We did and it was one of the best weeks ever! Delphi is just 30 minutes from Westport and 80 minutes from Galway City, so the perfect escape if you’re seeking a buzzy hen party location combined with some adventure in the West of Ireland. They have many different options from coasteering to pampering but what has caught our eye is Bushcraft Survival. Learn essential skills and how to survive in the wild. Bear Grylls isn’t just for the men ladies. Navigate your way though the rugged Connemara wilderness and learn how to set up a shelter, light a camp fire and source food. Awesome.
Inish Beg is a private island in West Cork (near Skibbereen and Baltimore) and a total gem for a low key hen party. If you’re looking for a venue with a difference where you can spend quality time with the girls this is the perfect place for the celebrations. During the day you can choose from trips to Sherkin and Cape Clear islands, Quad Biking (which we really like the sound of), Whale Watching and Scuba Diving (if you have a VERY brave hen party group!)
5. Wicklow Wild Woman, Kippure, Wicklow
Hen parties are all about fun and partaking in the Wicklow Wild Woman at Kippure is a hen party activity devoted entirely to fun for guests of all ages. You don’t need to be a gym bunny to take part and word on the street is that their instructors are rather hunky. With games like Potato Croquet, Welly Wanging, Squirt and Mad as a brush, all are hilarious, quirky, unique and fun and offer and a great opportunity to enjoy wild Ireland’s beautiful landscape as well as having the craic with each other.
6. SUP on Inisfree Lake, Sligo
SUP is a great way to take to the water. It’s not too difficult and you don’t have to actually get in the water (unless you fall in!) so you stay nice and dry from the knees up. This setting in Sligo is really tranquil and beautiful. It’s quite secluded and perfect for a hen party group with a sense of adventure. Afterwards, the lake shore can be prepared for a barbeque and lakeside chill out for the day. Bohemian bliss.
7. Glamping Goddesses, Rock Farm Slane, Meath
Rock Farm Slane has been our favourite glamping hen party destination in Ireland. This is an amazing setting and venue which will provide a truly memorable glamping experience. Whether you are a bunch of eco, active, beauty, crafty or foodie babes, you will find the perfect activity to suit your hen party. If you have 24 people or more, you will have campsite exclusivity. Why not turn it into your own henfest?! The village of Slane is nearby for some good food and pub time.
Yes, that does say hover crafting! Odd.ie in Cavan are organisers of extreme experiences and hover crafting is one of them. Thrilling and unique, this experience will definitely be something different. Part plane, part jet-ski, with no brakes, it’s like trying to drive on ice. Through a lake and land course and then from grass to open water, this is an extreme flying experience and sounds perfectly adventurous to us. Not for the faint hearted!
