The Hen Planner at The National Wedding Show 2017

We spent the weekend at The National Wedding Show in London. It was a big first for The Hen Planner to do such a big event like this but we had a really good time. I say “we” but it was just me, Claire. I did the full three days on my own and set up and took down the stand ALL ON MY OWN! You can imagine the state I was in on the way back to Dublin via Heathrow. Next time I will definitely get some help. It was a great few days though. I met so many people and had lots of fun at the DIY hen party photo booth with our gorgeous pink and rose gold hen party props. Having a business online you don’t get to meet people as much so it was really good to get out. I also came across some great businesses at the event and wanted to share my favourites!

1. Robyn Media

First up is Robyn Media. Steph the owner of Robyn Media was right across from The Hen Planner stand and I was so glad to have her as my neighbour. As well as being totally lovely, her business was perfect fit with The Hen Planner. One of the fun things her business does is she puts together funny videos of bridesmaids for the bride (like the one below, “Jessie from the Cronx”) or for anyone who wants to create something like this. This particular video was made for the bride as a surprise and it was then played at the wedding.

They also do Backchat videos which are great for a special couple or a special birthday. This is where family and friends have fun with a mix of stories and quick fire questions about the star. Robyn Media also put together wedding photo albums for those who don’t get this from their photographer at the time due to budget or some other reason. When the time is right for you to get your book created, Robyn Media will do this for you. Visit Robyn Media here.

2. Brendan Mills Music

Not much thought went into the stand we had at the event but it turned out to be totally perfect and we were so so lucky! Along with Steph nearby, we also had the music from the amazing Brendan Mills right behind us. Brendan is a professional saxaphonist who seriously is amazing. He played everything from more old school songs to more modern tunes from Alicia Keys, Justin Beiber, Ed Sheeran, Sexual by NEIKED and Zara Larson.

He had crowds stopping to watch him the entire time and we were so lucky that we got to listen to him for the 3 days. I would highly recommend him for a wedding, corporate do or special event. Get in touch with Brendan on his website here.

Bride to be boxes

The Bride to be box is the perfect gift for a newly engaged bride. It’s essentially a ‘wedding planner in a box’ that has been designed to inspire, assist and indulge the bride as she prepares for her big day. Claire at Bride to be boxes has created stationery to help you plan like a pro, and beautiful accessories to wear with pride until you are a bride.

The box includes:

Something old – A lucky sixpence, Something new – An enamel ‘bride to be’ badge in a cute heart or funky diamond shape (you can choose which you’d like), Something borrowed  – A list of suppliers who we know and love, advice from fellow brides, Something blue – Pretty hair clips created by talented bridal hairpiece designer Claire Austin.

The box also includes a super pretty wall planner will help visualise what’s left to be done and how much you’ve achieved, as well as make sure you get everything done on time. Created by an expert wedding planner, it lists everything you need to do, and when. Tick these off as they’re done and you’ll feel so satisfied with yourself you’ll have totally earned that glass of bubbly – plus with every tick you’ll be closer to the big day! Check out the Bride to be box here.

4. Cheek Frills

Cheek Frills stopped by our stand and gifted us a gorgeous pair of their luxury knickers. They specialise in the comfiest pretty knickers in gorgeous colours. They have a Bride set of 4 saying Hen, Bride, Just Married and Mrs which is a perfect gift for the Bride to be. They can also customise their knickers which is a perfect gift for the bride or for super special favours on the hen celebrations. (Poppy Delevingne had these for her ladies at her Coachella hen party in 2014!) They also sell cute teddys, chemises, bedshorts, pyjamas, robes, vests and bralets, all delivered in beautiful gift boxes. Get your Cheek Frills here.

5. Grays and Feather

By our stand we were also so lucky to have Grays and Feather who sell the cutest bottle of champagne ever! The Bubble is a 125ml of a toasty, floral Austrian Grüner Veltliner. These little bottles are particularly popular as wedding favours and as place settings around a dinner table. They would also work amazingly well for hen do goody bags or as favours for the hen party guests. If you’re having an Alice in Wonderland theme, these are a MUST! Shop them now here.
