Limerick Hen Party Ideas

Our blogger Noelle planned a simple and super classy hen party for her sister earlier this year in Limerick. Read on for some AMAZING Limerick hen party ideas.

When my fellow bridesmaids and I got together to plan our sister’s hen party weekend we had a few firm ideas in mind. Good accommodation, good food, no crazy strenuous activities, lots of laughs and night life. So we hit google and came upon what, to me at least, didn’t seem like an obvious choice. We had a look at some Limerick hen party ideas and with one glance at what The Savoy, Limerick had to offer meant we were off to Limerick for the weekend. It’s not often that a bunch of hen’s get to stay in plush surroundings with a fab pool, gorgeous food and a rather tasty cocktail list.

We hit the road on Friday and had Today FM’s Louise Duffy call the hen for a chat en route to get the party started. Upon landing the bride and chief bridesmaid were upgraded to a fantastic suite and we headed for the bar to work our way through the cocktail menu while we met up with the rest of the gang. From there we took a stroll to the Red Hen for pizzas and drinks. I’ll be honest and say that the name of the bar had a lot to do with it’s choosing but it was a great spot with cheap eats and good drinks in a really laid back cool bar.

We used our time at the Red Hen to assemble teams for our selfie competition. The girls were split into teams, given selfie sticks, some wigs and props, a list of photo ops and dispersed into the night with instructions to meet us at the next bar upon completion of their task. As bridesmaids we headed straight there and had a great laugh looking at the photos as they poured into the Whatsapp group we set up for the competition.

We got very lucky with our next choice of venue Cobblestone Joes where a brilliant 90’s tribute band The Fully Ninety were playing. We couldn’t have asked for a better playlist to our night as we danced and roared along to the soundtrack of our teenage years! The selfies got more daring as we forgot about the years that have since passed and dug out the vintage moves on the dancefloor. It was then back to the Savoy for a nightcap before falling into our very comfortable beds.

Saturday morning dawned without us as, in what we decided was one of the best features of the hotel, breakfast is served until a very civilised 12pm. From breakfast we dispatched the bride round the corner to Brown Thomas for a make up application and we regrouped for our activity at Ivory Closet. The girls at Ivory Closet very kindly laid on some bubbles and gave us the shop to ourselves for an activity with a difference. We got the opportunity to view their collection and prance about in designer frocks for the hour! If only we had the awards ceremony invites we would need to get use out of some of their amazing dresses. A few of the girls snapped up some fab dresses to take home and lined up some to hire for the big day in April.

Suited and booted we tripped back round the corner to the Savoy for afternoon tea. We were given enough food to sink a battleship, the ideal antidote to any overindulgence the night before and the accompanying prosecco was the perfect pick me up for the night ahead. The girls then dispersed, some for retail therapy, others for a disco nap before meeting again for some fun and games in the bride to be’s suite ahead of a delicious dinner at Hamptons Grill. Another night of divilment and debauchery lay ahead of us as we headed out to sample some more of Limerick’s laid back nightlife.

We said our farewells the next day over another delicious, leisurely breakfast before setting off for home with a recovery kit each consisting of some retro sweets, p[plasters for the heels and some other bits and bobs.

All in all a weekend of great food, drinks and fashion in the lap of luxury was what met us in Limerick. It turned out to be a great town to shop and party in with everything within a few minutes walk from the hotel door.  We couldn’t recommend both The Savoy and Limerick highly enough for a relaxed but lavish hen weekend.
