As winter creeps in there’s nothing quite like climbing into your hoody, leggings, fluffy socks and getting cosy with your besties for girl’s night. This is the ultimate chilled out way to spend a hen night or kick off a hen party weekend. We’re thinking good food, plenty of wine and swapping stories that will leave you sore from laughing.
There’s a girl’s night in to suit every budget. Host it at home or do it in style.
The Beacon in Dublin have some great offers for a girls night in. Their PJ Party includes use of the penthouse for movies and hanging out in the evening and provide you with essential girls night snacks.
If you really want to splash the cash, Castle Leslie in Monaghan offer luxury getaways for the hen party for two nights of luxury in a fabulous 4 or 5 bed Village House. With a fridge full of home treats, a welcome breakfast basket, beer, wine and ice cream, you’re pretty sorted for the night ladies! They also provide an open fire, chocolate, popcorn, snacks and a variety of legendary chic flicks such including Dirty Dancing, Pretty Woman, P.S I Love You or Sex and the City. And for supper on your night of arrival, they even deliver three mouth watering freshly made pizza’s. Total cosy indulgence.
It’s all about Wildfox.com for inspiring us on this one. Think comfort and cosiness, but on trend of course. Autumn is the best time of year for embracing fabulous comfy jammies and wrapping up in new season cardi’s and knits. This hen party gives you the perfect excuse to splash out on those PJ’s or house clothes you couldn’t normally justify buying because nobody would see them! We have been eyeing up some winter warming loveliness in New Look too which is much friendlier on the budget.
Food and drinks
If you book into a hotel, they’ll have you covered on the food so you’ll just need to bring some tipples. If you’re having it in self catering accommodation or in someone’s house, think old school pizza party, DIY cocktails and make your own ‘smores. A pic ‘n’ mix table would be a big hit and keep energy levels high throughout the evening. Stash a cheese board for the inevitable attack of the munchies that will hit later in the night.
Embrace childhood favourites with games like pass the parcel and maybe even a piñata filled with sweets and treats. If you have a lively bunch burn off some energy with a dance off to all your old hits. Set up a mini manicure station for a spot of pampering perfect for quieter moments.
This is the perfect event to have a rummage in the attic for the bride’s old uniform or teenage fashion disasters and have a self styled runway show behind closed doors or use the finds for a DIY Photo Booth. Think Carrie Bradshow when she is moving out of her apartment in the Sex and the City Movie or Cameron Diaz and Christina Applegate in The Sweetest Thing. Movie Montage!!
Have the girls send their favourite snaps of them with the bride and create a photowall. Festoon the place with bunting, candles and get the fire blazing for a snug shabby chic look that sets the tone for the night ahead. Our “Hen Party In Progress” signs, Miss to Mrs floral bunting or in pink and gold is the perfect centre piece with hooray and party flags scattered around the room. All available here.
Get the groom to record a message to play on the night. If he’s a little camera shy he could send his bride to be a goody box with a few little surprises for the night.
